964 rebuild - how relevant is Wayne's book

I am a newbie in the Porsche world and am attempting my first engine rebuild. I will have the assistance of my father-in-law and his mechanics (he has a shop but they work mostly on Japanese imports and domestics) and am thinking of using Wayne's book How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines 1966-1989. How relevant is it to the 964 engine. Are the basics similar or totally different. Any input would be appreciated.

It will take you 90% of the way there, the 964 differences can be solved with information from this forum.

I used Wayne's book for my top end rebuild this summer.

It was my first rebuild and a read the book cover to cover at least 3 times
and had it open every step of the way.

The major difference I remember was the Timing Chain tensioner.

Frankly the 964 Timing Chain tensioner was a breeze and intuitive.

Looks like it was way simpler than what was in the book.

I don't remember anything else being that different.
