82sc smokes and uses to much oil suddenly

Hi,
So I have my 82 sc 20k miles on top end rebuild.Everything was good, used very little oil.I went to the track the other day.
I went off into the dirt in my first session.Went in the pits checked the car, everything was ok.Second session went good, after that lunchbreak so it passed an hour when my 3rd session came up.I went out n the track and after a few laps I noticed I started smoking.
I pulled in the pits checked the oil,it was a quart low,it was full when I left my house.
Anyway I went home and put more oil almost to full.I pulled my airfilter and I noticed oil around the intake, put my hand into the intake and there was more oil.
I cleaned it out as much as I could.
I drove the car for a 100 miles and it used up 1 quart, which is ridiculous.
I dont feel any lack of power everything seems normal, oil temp, oil pressure, except it smokes when I stop at a light and take off in first, than when i decelerate lets say in third gear.

Im taking it in the shop next week anyway.
Any Ideas?
Why did I had oil in the air intake box, could it be from the pop up valve?
Thank you

Maybe a broken piston ring or two. If there are no signs of a leak externally, the engine must be burning the oil. The only way for oil to get into the combustion chamber is past the piston and rings or through a valve with a bad seal. The latter seems unlikely based on the amount of oil you're loosing. When you left the track did the engine over-rev? Could be coincidence. A leak down will tell the story.

Theres no signs of oil leak. When I spun out brake and clutch were pressed to the metal. It was fine one more session, than it sat for an hour and than started to smoke.I guess a leak down will tell us more tomorrow.

I'm sure you know how to check the oil level: warm engine at idle on level ground. The oil could have been pushed from the tank into the airbox during the spin but that doesn't explain the oil consumption of one qt over 100 miles unless you read the dip stick wrong. Any chance of that?

Probably just over serviced on the oil. The car gets hot on the track and the oil level can get higher than it normally does. Oil consumption can also be higher on the track. I use a quart per 200 track miles or so. If you are worried you can pull the spark plugs to check for oil fouling the plugs. If you have a broken ring or other oil consumption problem you'll find one or more plugs with oil on them.

it was full when I left my house.

You probably overfilled the oil and it is getting into the intake. My advice is never go beyond the 1/2 mark on an 82 SC. Clean out the air box and clean off the CIS air flow sensor with carb cleaner. You may want to consider a separate oil breather/catch tank, it has several advantages.

you need to drop the oil level for the track. should be halfway between the lines on the dipstick or as happened, your motor will eat the top quart due to the oil coming out of the breather hose due to centrifugal force into your intake. Oil must be checked hot and level. sounds as if your overfilled. If your that worried start over. drain the tank , add 8 qts, warm up and add from there. Clean the intake and see if it still smokes.
