Undercoat / Bed Liner?

Don,

What did you spray your engine compartment with? Great look.

Thanks, Gordo

all good so far. took it for a short drive. pretty impressive, to say the least. I really need to think about more tire in the back. liking the four speed, I'm lazy so less shifting is a good thing. can't wait to do a dyno after the break-in.

quickest car I've ever driven....so far.

I'll post more as break-in proceeds.

Great work Don. Also waiting your dyno reports.

I agree. Very interested in what those goofy cams will do.

yup, I'm very interested myself. it'll be a while yet though. I've ordered a set of these to fit my custom air horns....

Web Store - Bills B Racing

then it's time for a good break-in drive. trying to think of a good steep hill around here that doesn't have too many houses on it. then I'll spend an hour going up and down. hard up then compression braking down. works great. it must be a real pain to break-in an engine on the flatlands.

and so far, no leaks. I'm sure that will change. gotta expect a little, from the rocker shafts if nothing else.

don,
be sure to post a pic of those filters, installed. I'm always looking for good ways to provide air filters that also provide the retro-cool vibe.......while still providing function. Let me know how these work for you. Your DIY experimentation ...and the feedback is appreciated. that's where the fun is.
regards,
al

will do Al. from what I've read these filters work well. I was gonna get individual stack screens but liked the idea of the oval triple. gives much more airflow. now I just gotta figure out something to keep water out. they kinda stick up through the engine grill opening

Just wait till I pick up the parts from you and get the 3.0 ready....... :D Good to hear all is well!

There are some steep hills here in Kamloops. Or you can try our driveway it's 10% grade!

haycait911 02-14-2014 08:30 PM

just waiting for better weather for the road break-in. air screens came today from Bills B Racing.

been busy in the shop and chasing an ignition problem with the car. turns out it was a combination of a marginal battery and the brand new plugs. NGK 8ES. guess they were too cold? anyway, put in some 6ES and running smooth now. carbs need a bunch more jet-tuning.

relocated the ( new ) battery to the smuggler's box and installed a master cut-off. going to put in a push-button start later.

a little vid... ( turn up the volume :D )

thanks

Festive_Zombie 04-25-2014 07:44 AM

I like! That will sound great from inside the cabin :D

356RS 04-25-2014 08:32 AM

Sounds very healthy Don. Good work.

haycait911 05-05-2014 05:28 PM

break-in proceeds. took Strudelwagon for a quick zip around the block yesterday. I think my door handle is permanently molded to his hand.

here's an artsy pic as it sits beside the road..........out of gas............... again. I really gotta fix that gauge. this thing goes through a frightening amount of fuel.

pulls very strong. working out the bugs and fine-tuning the carbs. I'll post a vid one of these days.

ps. it doesn't look nearly this good in person.
