Help with engine stand mounting with P201 from Pelican
 

Here are two pics. The first is of the engine stand adapter from pelican. It slides into two of the studs from the transmission and allows for multiple screw points from the engine stand to secure.

Questions:
- Is two mounting points adequate for a 2.4 liter motor... is it ok since the adapter plate rests flush against the motor which makes the entire thing much stronger?
- In the second picture you will see a harbor freight engine stand for 1,000 lbs. Do I use the black provided swing arms and put a bolt through them into the other holes on the Pelican engine adapter?
- Lastly, do i use a spacer and just tighten the Pelican engine adapter against the motor using those two studs from the trans

Will I be all set if I do these three things above? Thanks in advance for the help.

Yes, you only want one case half mounted. Yes, the contact around half the circumference makes a strong support.

Yes, if you're lucky. I wasn't able to get more than three of the arms aligned with holes in the adapter at once. But that was enough.

That should work. Or remove the studs and use bolts (into the case) and lock washers. I think it would be more secure without the spacers.

I was able to get all four arms to line up by drilling an additional hole in two of the arms.

I wouldn't remove stud, just space out and use the nut. Think about it, once tight, there is nothing "lateral" happening to that bolt. Its all tension. Thats whats holding the tranny to your car successfully all day long. It won't fall off if tightened.

I was very lucky and after several attempts of rotating assembly around and playing with the arms I was able to get 3 arms attached without drilling any new holes. She holds like a beauty.

Very clean motor... and almost new (2,500 kilometers) but need to replace valve guides and seals due to bad carbs and washing with fuel... now that carbs are rebuilt, she will be good to go in a few weeks.

I have a nearly identical set up and was able to get all four by rotating the stand 90 degrees to the engine's orientation. It's hard to state that clearly, but hopefully the picture does a better job.
