Looking for thread identification for two items on the case.
Anyone know the thread dia. and pitch on the cam line ports, both on the cam tower and the case side.

NPT or Metric? :confused:

They are metric, we make fittings with - 6 an and also one for the sender block with a - 6 male , I will look in the morning and get you the pitch and dimension

Andrew, some of the early sand cast cases had a pipe thread for those fittings, what year case are you dealing with ?

Are you replacing the cam tensioner lines with AN parts? I thought about this but hadn't seen it done. Do you have any pictures?

Yes, my 2.9 runs Stomski mech tensioners, and does this new 3.6. The reason for my thread inquiry is the car is in paint, and the 2.9 is still installed, so I dont have the fittings local to match them.

Easy to make these lines, I am using Aeroquipt non-overbraid on this engine.

It is a 12 x 1.0, we make those in steel, el. nickle plated, take a look at the web site JBRacing.com

Nice. I'm doing the same thing (mech tensioners) and will get the AN-6 fittings from Mike.

What type of connection is made at the cam housing where the original banjo bolt + the often-debated oil restrictor goes? The cam housing is a fine thread if I recall correctly?

The cam housings are the same thread as the case, I also make the long fitting that goes thru the sender block on the 456 side that has - 6, I have never been a fan of the restrictors there at the expense of rockers and camshaft wear and with the elevated spring pressures and reduced quality in engine oils today

Excellent. I saw the oil pressure sender block fitting too.

That's a nice solution for someone who retains that big 'ol block of metal for the factory oil pressure sending unit. I think I can get away with ditching that sender block for the time being because I have a mech. oil pressure gauge in the dash. Its fed from the case port for the factory oil warning idiot light, next to the case thermostat. But eventually I may need to reinstall the block to put a sender in place for a Stack or Racepak dash?

I too have been skeptical of the oil restrictors since the cams and rockers are solely dependent on splash oiling. Is oil aeration a significant problem in the cam housings???

I don't think its a problem with aireation, there is a stream of oil to each lobe and the runoff goes to the rocker bushings, Frankly I am afraid to look at while doing a pull with all that oil in there !

Is there some other benefit like reducing the amount of oil that has to be scavenged from the sump? I dunno.......

You should have one of your fabricators mold an upper valve cover out of polycarbonate. Then you could look at what's going on in there during a dyno run?
