3.0 runs rough after MSD replaced???
Hello All,
I finished my top end rebuild and ran it few times over the winter. It ran very smooth the first couple of outings. Recently while warming up at about 1500 RPMS, the motor just died! After checking the MSD I found that it was dead so I replaced the MSD unit with a new one. Now it is running very rough, almost like it has a dead cylinder.....I pulled the plugs and they have a nice golden tint to them.... What could of happened? What should I check next? Thanks for the help!!! mg

A few things;
1. Make sure the purple and green trigger wires are not reversed. Switch them and see if it doesn't fix the problem. 2. The unswitched 12 volt lead needs to be a home-run to the battery. Don't go to the starter or rear fuse panel. The MSD can pull over 20 amps. make sure your wire size is big enough (#8). 3. The switched 12 volt wire needs a good supply and make sure it's constant. I had trouble with all switched sources and ran a dedicated wire with a switch on the dash. Don't forget to turn it on if this is the route you choose. 4. Make sure you cut the appropriate wire for six cylinder use. There is a cover on the MSD box that when removed exposes a number of colored wires. Check the MSD instructions on which one to cut.
