oil line adapters

Hi guys,do I really need a 90 degree fitting on my crossover line from engine to oil tank or front cooler thermostst with the -12 AN hose.Thanks,T.C.

All depends on how you intend to route the hose....... Need more clarification on where you're talking about. Is this the oil exit on the left side of the engine or the oil inlet below the oil cooler on the right side of the engine?

Most often the reason people use the tight bend of a 90 deg. fitting is to get the hose turned away from the exhaust piping as quickly as possible. A forged fitting does this the best, but doesn't flow quite as well as a typical 90 deg fitting with the longer, smoother tubing.

It's the oil exit on the left side. However, you've answered my question with the getting away from the exhaust point.Thanks.T.C.

You can also to shorten the exit and reduce cost (metric fittings are spendy...) by installing a Setrab male AN-12 fitting in place of the metric Porsche fitting that is currently in the case. The Setrab fitting is short and has the M22 x 1.5 threads you need to go into the case. From there you can use whatever AN-12 fitting you like.

Elephant Racing has the Setrab fittings. So does BAT Inc. Both are great vendors to work with.

You could also use the "direct port" AN-12 fitting like on page 3

AN-12 is a bit smaller than the stock Porsche lines, but it works just fine for street cars or cars that see mild track use.
