New O-rings for solid oil return tubes smaller

I ordered a couple of O-rings from Pelican just last week for solid(not collapsible) oil return tubes.
They are smaller than the previous version by 1mm. when I fit the oil return tube into the engine block, it just not "click in" but rather just loosely falls in .
I am afraid to use this for fear of a leak upon start up.
I called Pelican and they said this is the new style of O-ring they sell now.
Does anyone have any experience using the smaller new style O-rings?

i wouldn't use them if the just slip in easily. proper ones take some effort.
