I know the answer - but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Should I replace this timing chain gear? It has a funky wear pattern on it.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1340851051.jpg

Intermediate shaft sprocket.......

That sprocket is totally worn out. I could not imagine how the wear pattern was formed that way and looks weird. Inspect the timing chains too. No way I'm going to put that sprocket back into the engine unless the part is not available anymore.

Yeah... ordered a new one. It feels like about 3 to 5 thousandths.

Yeah, that sprocket is toast.

As far as the chain is concerned, ALWAYS replace the chain and sprocket together.

How does the passenger side cam sprocket look? How about the other Idler sprocket, is it worn also? That much wear on the idler sprocket would give me concern as to the alignment of the cam sprockets.

Check your chain boxes to see if the chain has worn a groove in them-- that pattern appears to be caused by extreme misalignment of the sprockets.

Thanks. I will closely examine all the associated bits. I have new tensioners (reason for the rebuild), chains, and ramps.
