need lots of help

this is my girlfriends car, I was driving it when when it took a sh$t... I was at a stop light and when I pushed the gas it sounded like a volts wagon bug and limped into a gas station were it died and would not start.. when I turned it over you could here a clicking sound on the driver side bank.. I have the head off and I can deff see that the exhaust v"s hit the pistons and are now bent and stuck down...?? y would this happen to only one side of the motor?? when all of the timing chains are tight and I cant see anything that is wrong???

sounds like a cam timing failure. (chain jumped, cam timing pin failure) All 3 exhaust valves hit the pistons?

yes all six exhaust vaulves hit not to hard but hard enough... timimg chains can jump teeth??

new bee 07-28-2012 04:08 PM

there were some codes that it threw ramdom misfire and cam shaft position sensor

This sounds like a newer car. Maybe a 996? They have had some issues with the intermediate shaft bearing. If the engine didn't have a problem from a mechanical failure, it was over reved. An over rev will cause the exhaust valves to hit the pistons.

ok could it have been over rev earlier in the day and may have done damage that wasn't noticeable for a little while?? because I was at a stop light going like 8 miles an hour ??

My guess is that if you dont know anything about Porsches and you are removing the "head", this is a CYA operation. Time to face the music, your in the Dog House. Bit the bullet and take it to a reputable shop and have it repaired.

it's a 2000 996, anyway you look at it-$10,000 to fix min.

My 2.2L lost a fan belt with the PO and the exhaust valves stuck in the guides and bent all six. (slightly)
The engine lost compression and died.

If you had a intake air leak maybe the engine overheated by running lean?
