911T Targa 69 repair project in Miami
Hello,
I'm new here, i just bought a 69 911T Targa at an on-line auction. Good news, it was not very expansive.... Not so good news (beside the rust): When I got the car delivered, i found a box with cylinders and pistons in the trunk There were some installed as well, fortunately, but the pistons are seem to be custom made (i found a form of the machine shop also in the box) and the cylinders don't look stock either, is it possible they are cast iron?) I got the engine running after putting the carb. repair kits in, changing the oil and the other usual stuff. I repaired the brakes just for a test drive (pistons were stuck) and drove a bit with it. Something in the gearbox went bad, i couldn't get back in neutral. I pulled the engine and will repair and rebuild what makes sense. I was almost falling for MM (nice website and nice chat on the phone) but i had the feeling it was to good to be true and a bit of research (on sites like here) did convince me not to go that way. Does anybody know a trustworthy machine shop or a 911 repair shop down here in Miami? I'm form Austria and don't really know a lot around here, so please any Ideas are very appreciated!! Thanks in advance Bernd |
