73, 911T, how to get max Horses?
I have a standard 1973 T engine, E cam and I have a extra CIS injection system. The engine had the Bosch injection originally. I am looking to get as close to S spec as possible for street use. What piston/cylinder, cam, injection system do I need to use? Do I need to port as well? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks,

Hi,
To get your engine to "S" specs, you will need: 1) 2.4 S heads (your heads can be CNC'ed to S spec, as well ) 2) S cams 3) Weber's, PMO's or a Bosch MFI system built to S spec (very expensive!) 4) S pistons & cylinders (Mahle is preferred for longevity). You can also use 2.2S P/C's for more compression. |
Thanks for the information Steve. Some questions:
1. Cost or S cams and S piston/cylinders, plus machine shop work for the heads? 2. I have the MFI injection as well as a set of CIS. When you say expensive, do you mean the rebuild to S spec, or the MFI system itself? Assuming we do all this, is the car driveable around town? Or is it a 5K RPM car? I am looking to have power as well as driveablity. |

The T MFI system uses 32mm throttles which can be rebuilt/modified to 36-38mm, but opening the ID of the plastic stacks is another matter completely. Personally, I would use Solex cams instead of S ones for their much better low-end power and better around town flexibility. Everything else would be the same. |
3.2?
Another approach to gaining more HP.....................is to transplant a nice 3.2 into your 73. I highly recommend this option.
My 73.5 is a hot rod and modified to the point where there is no going back for me (not that I want to), but.......... .....You can then rebuild your 2.4 to stock specs and put in on the shelf, while you are having mucho fun with the 3.2, waiting for the day that originality becomes a priority again. (resale time ...perhaps). http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1346946586.jpg regards, al |
And a 3.2 is easier than a 3.6 is.
