Con rods 3.3/3.2

Anyone know this con rods?
Porsche 911 RS RSR PERFOMANCE RACING 3.2 H BEAM CONNECTING RODS | eBay

Thinking for å modified turbo engine.

Price is good, but What about the rods?

Flat6pac 09-16-2012 01:22 PM

Why would they be Porsche parts with SAE threaded bolts?

This is a complete crap shoot. they may be good or, likely as not, junk...and from a seller who can't spell performance. If you need aftermarket rods I suggest you buy Carillo or Pauter with the assurance you are buying quality.

Phil

Considering the implications to the engine if the rods don't turn out to be decent, I'd run far away from them. broken rods have ways of punching holes through crank cases.

As already said: Too risky!

I agree with all above. Thanks for sharing

Well, Pauters use 3/8" SAE thread rod bolts. Made by ARP. Nothing necessarily wrong there.

But I don't think I'd buy rods without knowing who made them, and who made the bolts. Pauter at one point used something other than ARP, and one of those bolts broke on a friend's 2.8 race motor. Ugly, as always.

Made in China and I believe they are a copy of R&R rods or Carillos. I looked at them when I was rebuilding my engine awhile back. By looked I mean I asked the seller about them. I didn't actually have them in hand to look at them.

I didn't buy them and stuck with my old Pauters. Glad I did. I think they saved me from throwing a rod when my engine had a problem recently.

FWIW,..the ONLY steel rods we will use are either Pauter, Carrillo, or Arrow. Given the consequences, its foolish to take chances on 911 engines with anything else.
