how long can a fresh rebuild sit?
How long can I wait to start my fresh rebuild? What do I need to do?
I'm waiting on the DME Computer to be fixed (I screwed it up). Thanks,

You have the engine in the car, just add oil and bring pressure up on the guage, you dont need the brain to turn the engine over.

I would most definitely bow to Bruce's greater knowledge....however as a data point, when I had my Kremer done in Germany, they finished the engine in 1989 and I did not get it into the car and running until 1995. Since then it has ran like a train, I have about 40,000km on it, never had a problem or issue with it.
Only negative so far is that there is a small amount of oil weeping at one of the cylinder/head joints. Seems very minor... Dennis |

Mine sat for a couple years while I finished the car. I put preservative oil in it and dessicant plugs in the spark plug holes.

Will the engine turn over with the key or do I have to rig something? I already put the oil in.

Did you turn the engine over on the stand before you installed it in the car? Does it turn over with absolutely no issues whatsoever when you do it by hand? You should be absolutely certain it turns over with no abnormal resistance before you hit the starter. Anyway, when you turn it over with the starter, this will pressurize the oil system and distribute oil where it needs to go. As Bruce said, you don't need the DME to crank the engine with the starter.
