3.2 Cylinder to Head Seal
 
I am in the process of assembling the heads to the cylinders. Is there any special treatment required on the sealing faces.

No treatment needed. Clean and dry.

Thank you. Since this is a metal to metal seal shouldn't there be a surface finish and flatness requirement?

There is a bevel on the top of the cylinder. Between the bevel and the torque requirements you get the seal.

Some people like to lap the heads to the cylinders with some valve grinding compound and then of course clean it off before assembly.
I'd like to hear more opinions on this too, and if it's a good idea with heads that have been resurfaced and new mahle 930 pistons and cylinders without flame rings.
