2.2 tight after rebuild

I have an original 914/6 mag cased 2.2 motor with T P&C's and E spec cams that was professionally rebuilt in January of 2007 by a very reputable engine builder. The motor has sat in my garage on a stand until it was installed into my 914/6 conversion car a few months ago. It was manually turned over periodically from 2007 til recently. The car is now trying to be fired up and we have found that it turns freely without the plugs in and is much tighter obviously with the plugs in...A normal 914/4 starter is having a tough time getting it to fire so we have ordered a high torque starter and are hoping that the motor will fire and loosen up...just sharing my concern as I am hoping for the best outcome...Let me know if you have been in the same circumstance...

I've had a similar experience turning over a newly built engine with a supercharger...the starter and the battery needed to be in peak condition to get it started during break-in. No issues for me down the line so far.

Best of luck

Boy I am encouraged by your comment...I hope that is all that is the matter with mine. I hope to hear something from the shop today or tomorrow.

All is well...installed the new high torque starter and she fired up! Now the fine tuning comes...
