74 Carrera sale prep
I am preping my 74 Carrera (documented) for sale. I have (possibly) a stupid question.
When I purchased the car 23 years ago the Duck Tail had been replaced with a (real) 1975 Whale Tail. I am now replacing the whale tail with a duck tail. Can anybody give me a fair market price estimate of what the whale tail should sell for? Or, am I better off including it as part of the sale of the car? I am new to Pelican and would appreciate opinions. Thanks |

Jim,
Condition is everything and that's the final determining factor for value. If its perfect, I'd be asking $1500 or more.

You might find the buyer prefers the tail you're about to get rid of...I would sell it as-is. Around here in particular, people are aware of what it would take to get it the way they want it, and maybe it's already that way.

x2 what Tremelune said. Unless its an original 1974 ducktail, I wouldn't bother selling the whale tail and purchasing an aftermarket ducktail. Most, if not all, buyers will ask you whether the ducktail is original to the car and will want the original ducktail on the car. This will be especially true on a documented car. By leaving the whale tail, at least you save yourself some time and effort and the buyer the guess work.
Nonetheless, if the whale tail is in good condition, I think ~$1000 is a fair price. |
