Which piston rings

Not sure which rings to get for my 911sc. It's a 204bhp european model, late 1980.

My local supplier has two options,

1974-1980 93010396300/1
1981-1989 93010398600/1

So that would probably put me with the first rings.

Pelican suggest

1974-1979 93010396300/1
1980-1983 93010398600/1

Which would suggest the second rings.

Any way of me telling before I order ?

Thanks

Do a search, there should be plenty of information, then ask the question.

There is a post 2 down from yours where Steve Weiner (reputable engine builder) recommends Goetz brand rings. You should probably buy them as a set unless you have some special requirements.

the ring spec is in mm, measure them so you know. Pistons will be Mahle and inside the pistons there is a discription 2 numbers, a letter and 2 numbers. The numbers are a discription of the piston. PP would know the rings for the piston.

Thanks, did try some searching, but couldn't find which ones I need.

The two numbers are for Goetz rings as they seem to be the ones to go for.

Just had a look and the numbers in the Mahle pistons are

95L70
++
C021

You have the pistons out so all you need to do is measure the oil control ring thickness:

930 103 963 00=4.0mm oil control
930 103 986 00=3.5mm oil control

The top rings are the same in both ring sets. I would be willing to bet you need the later part number with the thinner oil control ring. :)
