930 engine endplay acceptable range

HI
I am doing 930 engine convert to my 73 911, when I attach my 915 trans to my new 930/68 engine and testing clutch work function, I hear a sound from crank, so what is endplay acceptable range?
Need your input. Many thanks!

according to Wayne's book and Bentley, crank shaft axial clearance = 0.110 - 0.195 mm. Or 0.0043 to 0.0076 inches.

I check my endplay today, it is about almost 1mm. I think I need to open it to check it up does anyone know why my crank shaft axial clearance will so big? which parts should I check or replace first?

One will not know anything definitive until its apart & measured, but it sounds like thrust bearing wear.

Some early 3.0 liters and 3.3s had issues with High wear on the thrust surface of the crank. I am not sure how the issue came about or how many engines were affected. this issue was early on around 1978. I have not heard of one so late having the issue unless the crank was replaced with an earlier unit.
