Enginge running temperature
For those of you that have a temperature gauge in your cars, what is the freeway temperature show when it's say 70F outside?
Thanks in advance for your replies |
This is a really incomplete question but I know what your after and I ave many answers. For 70 degree day
1) 1977 911 no aux cooler up front= around 200f for my car 2) 1977 911 with turbo and cooler in fender = about 210-225f 3) 1977 911 with turbo and cooler in fender and duct in valance = 190-210f 4) 1977 911 with turbo and cooler in both fenders and duct in valance for both= 180 max on 70 degree day on the freeway never more. Maybe 210 degrees at over 100 mph all day long. But...... The reason for more coolers for me is: 1) Vegas heat 2) long summers and traffic. 3) expensive engine I don't like to cook in Vegas heat. Hope I helped. |
195 degF is be the optimum bulk oil temp under most conditions.
The main bearings will typically be 50 degF hotter than the bulk oil temp and even if a modern synthetic oil can stand higher temps the bearings may still struggle. |
Thank you Chris
