930 marked 4 Bearing Cam Towers on a 2.7SS

Guy's,

Collecting parts for a rebuild and mods on a 2.7SS.

I used the search and am more confused now then when I started.

I picked up some 4 Bearing Cam Towers with 930 cast numbers. Can I use these on a 2.7SS motor? Or do I need to find some of the 901 marked 4 Bearing Cam Towers?

When I order the cams they will be 4 bearing and would be 49mm, correct? Thats if I can use these towers.

If not, I would need to find the 901 marked 4 Bearing Cam Tower and mod for oiling if used with a four bearing cam? And this would be a 47mm cam, correct?

If I can use these 930 marked cam towers are any mods required, if yes I will send them out with the aluminum case going to Ollies.

Thanks for any help with this.

Jimmy

Jimmy,.

I believe you can as long as you use a custom valve with the same length as a 3.0 /3.2 liter

Or

you let your cam grinder know you will need a custom cam with 49mm journals and base circles for a 2.7

Buy a pair of SC cams, less expensive.
The SC 4 journal is larger than the 2.7

Thanks Guy's.

Ok, so I can use them.........

As far as the cam, I am stepping up to something like a GE80 or DC80 (DC-62 now) and just need to let them know it will need to be a 4 bearing cam, 49mm bearing size and base circles for a 2.7

Is this correct?

Correct....or shorter valves. Please VERIFY with your cam grinder so you get what you need.

2.2/2.7 intake valve measures 114mm O.A.L
3.0/3.2 measures 110mm O.A.L

Dimension from the top edge of the valve lock groove to stem tip;

2.2/2.7 approx 8.25mm
3.0/3.2 approx 6.75

the lock to stem tip dimension difference is probably the real change between base circles.
