964 rod bushings
Ok, this is my first 911 engine rebuild and everything was going fine, utilising plenty of reference books and manuals etc, until I got to replacing the small end rod bushings. I ordered new parts per the parts catalogue only to discover the internal diameter of the bushings are 22.5mm and don't accommodate the 23mm wrist pins. Ordered second set of bushings from a different parts supplier only to discover the same issue. What am I missing here? If anyone can shed some light on this subject I would appreciate it.

bushings
They need to be "pin fit" after installation with the pins you are going to use or a new sample

You want them machined after being pressed into the small ends and the big ends checked and machined for roundness.
The shop will machine the bushings at the correct stroke distance and fit them to size to match the 23mm wrist pins. Usually shops do this as an all in one rod refurbishment and balance them as a set for you too. Check out an issue of Panorama to find a good shop near you that specializes in Porsche machine work. Good luck. Fred
