Pelican Group Build: 2.2E
Lend a hand!
I think the first book we bought was Waynes engine rebuild book
who knew it would take 10 years to really use it!...;-)
The time has come on my sons 66 rebuild to get the engine going and that is where you come in. In my second post (I will update it as we go along), after reading through Waynes & Bruces books and a kazillion Pelican post, I have listed the hi-lights of a stock 2.2E rebuild with some moderate upgrades. Please fine tune it!! We are looking for any and all inspirational information, from inside tips to machine shops, in order to finish this phase of the project. I know a 2.2E in a 66 that is what it came with when I bought the car almost 20 years ago so we are going to build it back stock. The engine is completely torn down and a new set of Mahle 2.2E P&C's are on hand. Your insight will be greatly appreciated!! Best regards, Glenn & Cam |

What is the norm procedure & finish for the timing chain housing, intermediate plate cover & valve covers? Thanks again for your input! Glenn |
Did 2.2Es not have squirters already?

The '70 case did NOT have the squirters, the '71 cases did HAVE the squirters. I have a '71 "T" and it NEVER got above 180 even in 110 degree South Texas heat without an external cooler. I WOULD do the squirters.
