can I convert my 2.7l 911 to a 3.4 996

Hi all,

a have a 1976 carrera with 2.7l engine, and 915 gear,

I have an option to buy 1998 3.4 996 engine and gearbox at a good price,

is this conversion possible ?

thanks,

no, well you can but, 996 3.4 is water-cooled, gearbox won't fit easily, need to fab a radiator for the carrera, IMS bearing failures to worry about with the 3.4 but you can try. 3.6 fits in the 76

Yessir, all of these M96-series are.

JMHO, but stick to an air-cooled one and you'll minimize unplanned & expensive 'surprises'.

How about I sell you our 3.2L AASE rebuilt 1984 engine that will bolt right up
to the 915 and give you 218RWHP and 186 RWT. We have the DME and wiring harness
but no exhaust or tin...

Let me know if you are interested?

IMS Bearing failures can be fixed with the kit from .....ah.....turbokraft? or is it L&N engineering.
The kit works really well with the boxster engines..

interesting concept with the 996....you would really have to do some fabrication to get it in there right...
