996 gear in 76 2.7?????

Hi All,

I have a 76 911 with standard 2.7 engine and 915 gear, my friend can give me the gear from his totaled 1998 996 3.4, is this conversion optional? will it improve my car?

thanks

Totally incompatible. The G96 transmissions do not bolt up to any air-cooled engines.

Just to add to what Steve had said, if you use both the 996 engine and gearbox it can be done. Just be prepared to basically convert the back half of your car to a tube frame chassis to mount and make it fit. It will cost more in customization and fabrication than your car is worth.
