First Valve adjustment Advice
 

With the help of material from this forum, I completed my very first valve adjustment on my SC today. It took me a good 6hrs (8hrs including spark plug + oil change lol). Because I was prob being over cautious, I suspect I may have left a few valves slightly looser than ideal.
So just preparing for the worst tomorrow when I start the car up : If I need to go back and redo the valve adjustment, do I have to re-drain all the oil? I usually have the rear of the car up on drive-up ramps.

You do not have to drain the oil in order to do a valve adjustment.

Just jack up one side at a time & adjust that side. If you leave the car level, you will drain quite a bit of oil - the level is at least an inch or 2 above the bottom edge of the lower valve covers.

I'm going to advise that your try the "backside" method. You will need to take the tin off.

I tried it last week for the first time. I can't understand why the factory method is the other way.

By the way - I checked the first few valves with the "standard" .004" feeler under the foot. A big difference in drag on the backside is hardly noticeable under the foot.
