375K..Good pressure...heads only?

Great forum, thank you all!!! I know: while you are in there, but..........my bottom looks good with oil pressure at 1 Bar idle (checked with a mechanical gauge - not at cluster), no strange noises, and 2k RPM = 2 Bar, 3k RPM = 3 Bar..........However, a while back the air alternator duct air baffle fell leaving # 6 without adequate cooling for over two years, so I suspect broken or no longer tempered rings? (fouled plug at #6 - no change at idle while removing #6 cylinder at idle - have pulsating blowby indication at oil filler neck)....that's the only reason I want to open her (Beautiful Gretchen.......hehehe....1981 911SC triple black....opened in 1994 for a head job at 40 K - broken stud...had 24 Dilavar installed then and still holding to this date - have steel studs and all the parts for the top).....do not want to disturb the bottom and also want to provide some comfort to everybody here: these engines are bulletproof!!.......still running so strong!!, and only smokes a bit under very strong acceleration or deceleration (has Alusils BTW)....I just don't want to open what I feel is a good/great Porsche factory bottom......Comments please....Thank you all for a great forum...Best,

I am glad to report that even at 400K miles "it seemed" that I did not have to split the case but it is wise to do since "while you are there" is such a small step..........main bearings were still looking good but replaced with our host parts, and #3 big end rod pitted and ready to spin/fail (#6 exhaust valve burned thru), so splitting is, or seems to be, a good idea given the time and effort while you are there. I just want to thank you all Pelicanites for a great forum as I just completed a solo rebuild of my 81 SC with all your collective help,..... now leak free and smooth(thank you Henry Supertec...yes, green Viton and Dow Silicone works....and recommended sealants.... I noticed some comments on these issues.....did I miss some comments by others on sealants that degrade seals mechanical properties?).........now continuing on my 21st year of daily driving in sunny Los Angeles....Thank you all!!!
