Engine Rebuilder in Northwest
I have a great little '73 911T (Guards Red) with a '75 2.7L engine in it. I'm doing some cosmetic stuff to the engine and redoing the interior and front end, but I think the engine might need some internal attention as it smokes quite a bit; runs well other than that.
I live in Western Montana and while there's a shop here in town that says they can do it, they touch everything from Audi's to Volkswagens. Don't want to spend a fortune but can put the engine in back of my truck and deliver it as I will have it out to do some seal work. Remember, in Montana we drive 500 miles one way for lunch!!! Your recommendations will be much appreciated. Tom |
Supertec Performance, they've done 5 engines for me, every one a gem.
If you'll drive 500 miles for a happy meal :), the 1500 mile to Supertec is well worth the drive. Of course you could just ship it for less than the cost of gas. Take the 15 South turn right at Fallbrook. If you're lucky, stop in Vegas and win the cost of a rebuild...... supertecperformance.com |

I would also second the recommendation to send it to Supertec, especially a 2.7 engine. You could break it down to the long block, and then send it on a pallet. He should be able to tear it down, let you know what it needs, then reassemble it correctly and with a 2 year warrantee. To do this properly, figure on $10,000 plus, but it will be correct.
At the very least, you should install case savers and the Supertec studs (if they're once again available). |
Steve at Rennsports Systems in Portland. He will do all the right updates and have the case properly prepped, align bored, etc etc.
John Walker is a great option too. Call both of them and see who you click with. |
Hi Tom,
Have you considered a DIY disassembly/reassembly while sending out for machine work only? Could help the winter pass. Lots of fun. best, |
