bore for main oil pressure piston so tight

I just found out that the bore for the main oil pressure relief piston was too tight on my engine. The piston literally clicks into the the fully seated position. I have to push it out using a wooden stick from the hole for the oil pressure light.
the symptom was very high oil presssure.



I was thinking of using fine rubbing compound to open up the bore

btw, the engine case is a 1976 turbo case
