I think most would have dropped that first oil much sooner. Best to let the stuff that gonna "shake loose" quick, do so, and then get it out of the motor.

I think we've learned a lot of things since autoshop days.....it's pretty much accepted wisdom, at least in Porscheland, to go through some heavy accel and decel during initial break-in, in order to seat the rings. I'd get some hard miles on that motor ASAP.
