Its not always a crankshaft oil seal leak
A while ago I needed to remove my gearbox for a little remedial work. I wasn't too happy but it was an opportunity to have a look at fixing what I thought was a weepy crankshaft oil seal on my new engine causing a drip on the garage floor.
So after careful examination I couldn,t see a leak source or path from that seal, I needed to look harder... I found what I thought was a possible source from the newly sealed gallery bungs in the case but that was red herring... looking even harder I noticed the smallest evidence of a possible leak from the crankshaft gallery sealing bung on the crank to flywheel face. Nothing ventured I tapped the bung home hard with a flat punch...... 150 miles later its bone dry. Moral is ....its not always what you expect SmileWavySmileWavy. |
Nice catch. You got any photos?
