Case Torquing Sequence
 
The shop manual calls for you to cross torque the case through bolts and then to move to the case perimeter studs to torque up the case. However, I've noted some posters mentioning that they would torque up the perimeter studs first and then move to the case through bolts. My question is whether it matters which ones are done first and last, as long as the through bolts are done in the cross torquing sequence specified in the shop manual.

I think it depends on which sealant(s) you are using. If you are using just 574 then it makes sense to do the through bolts first and then perimeter bolts because the drying time is about 40 minutes for 574.

On the other hand, as in my recent case sealing, if you use threebond 1194 on the perimeter and 574 on the interior mating surface you only have 20 minutes to get the perimeter tightened up so you do that first (1194 work time is 20 minutes, max). With the remaining time you concentrate on the through bolts.

Good luck with your case race. I recommend at least one helper to ensure you it get done on time, particulary if this is your first time doing it.
