GE cams help needed asap
I'm having a Carrera 3.2 engine built on a budget using some new old stock GE 3.2-3.6 cams. I have found very little info other than the basic specs on the grind. My engine builder is asking me for set up info and I can't find it anywhere. Called Jerry Woods, who is suppossed to be maker of GE cams, they have been useless and don't return calls. I'm at a standstill here. Any help you can provide or resources you can point me to is appreciated. Thanks.

There should be a bit more info than just 'GE' and 3.2L. As I'm sure you know, there is a variety of cams that can be chosen for a given displacement. Porsche themselves used E, solex, S, and 906 grinds in the 2.0s. Quite a span...
The larger the displacement the more radical the cam can be and still be 'street able', so you have a large assortment to choose from...I would assume a GE 60 or 80 for an aggressive street cam. It may just come down to mapping the lift/duration with a dial gauge and comparing to a table like on the Dougerty website or Wayne's book. |
Set up would be set at 1.25 just like all the other cam's . Sound like a web cam 20/21 grind good cam.

You can also try calling Elgin cams. At one point they ground the GE cams. Maybe they can help. They'd need to know which grind. Stamped on the end of the end of the camshaft hopefully?

Thanks for the info. I'll contact Elgin. If I can't find the info I need we will map them out, just hoping to save the time. The grind is "3.2/3.6" and the specs I have are:
GE 3.2/3.6 .455"/.425" lift, 248/230 duration, 107 lobe sep |
Cory, the maker of GE cams was Integral cams, not Woods, which he had the right for reselling them.
