Engine rebuilding in Naples FL. south west FL

I have a 1968 Porsche 911L soft back Targa with a 1971 911T 2.2 engine. Should I put a 68 crank case and rebuild, or rebuild the 71 2.2? Will the car have more value with the 68 block? The original engine number is 3280281 and the trans axle number is 3280504(902/1).If anyone has that case number. It will solve my problem. Thanks Louishttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1378241595.jpg

Find the original case.

If you can find an earlier case that would be best. Your original aluminum case 901/14 would be a major bonus! This would be a better bottom end than the mag case 2.2, although more expensive to buy.
I am building one right now, but using the 2.2 heads and 86mm slip in cylinders for a 2.3L

1968 was a transition year from aluminum to magnesium cases.
The 1968 911L engine I have in my shop is an aluminum case - type 901/14.
I believe yours should be the same.
Not sure about the 5 in your chassis VIN number.
Beautiful car BTW!

I can't find the answer to the number 5 in the chassis number either.
