Help me get my crank ready to go back in
I need to know exactly what I need to do for my crank that I'd like to have cross-drilled in preparation to go back in a rebuild that will see track and street use.
Can someone recommend a shop that can do all this and what $$ amount can I expect to pay? From my research I'm looking at: Crossdrilling Oil galley cleaning and replug Nitrite hardening process Please confirm/add/delete from my list of what I need to have done. Thanks |
If you cross drill you should also enlarge the oil feed holes to the #4 main bearing and have the bearing grooved. Shouldn't need to nitride unless the crank has been machined, they are pretty tough as is and already hardened by a process similar to nitriding I believe. Usually checking for straightness and balance is part of the job as well.
