Intervalve RS Valves ... Anchor Atlantic

So it looks like going to get my heads worked by Anchor Atlantic. Seems to have very good reviews and not to far from me. I am going to see if they can take my 993 seats and grind them to accept the 993 RS valves. I think that will work with the RS cams I plan to run and the PMO 50s. Anyone have them do this type of service vs the standard head/valve overhaul?

I was also looking at RS valves. Seems the OE cant be found any more. Many have used and like the Intervalve replacement valves. I see they are ~$50 from pelican. I see PMS is selling them for almost double that ... why? are they the same valve or Na filled versions of the Intervalves? Thoughts?

Thanks Guys.

It doesn't really answer your question, but I am running RS cams and RS intake valves on my 993. Steve Weiner did the work. I had a circlip fail, and had to replace a P&C,and have a head re-done. Steve was able to source another factory RS valve from Germany,so I assume they are still available. Good luck with your project. Post some pics when you get the PMO's on.:D

Thanks Emerald. Talked to Atlantic today. They had no problem doing the work. Im ordering the valves tonight. I did run into a snag. I went to the Aasco site and got the info for their high performance valve springs for use with the Ti retainers. They are much cheaper(half as much) then pelican sells and have a different part number leading me to belief that they are not the right ones for my 993 heads. Both PMS and Pelican share the same part number. Aasco has them as HP109 and everyone else uses 901-105-901-50-HP-M336 as the P/N. Anyone have some clarification? Thanks!

Intervalves are nice valves. We at MotoDelta have used them for a number of years on our racecars with no complaints. The machining on them is a little rough and could stand to be polished.

The AASCO price difference is probably that Pelican is not letting you know their price includes the seats? If you add the spring price and seat price on AASCO's site, it's basically the same as what Pelican is listing.

Note that 993 valves/heads use a smaller stem diameter. So the 901.105.901.50.HP.M336 is not the right setup for you. Take note of the Pelican description where it says 65-94 911. The 964 uses the same valve stem diameter 9mm as the older cars and then with the 993 Porsche switched to 8mm stems.

Note that for a 993 with the AASCO springs that you need to use their seats too. Be sure to read the tech info and installation pdf

AASCO MOTORSPORTS

JB Racing also sells a nice spring setup.

Thanks Kevin. I got the retainers for the 8mm 993 valves. I asked for clarification with pelican parts telling them I had a 993 and they said these were the springs and no mention it included the seats. Makes sense that the extra ~$200 on the springs is from the seats ... would be nice if they clarified this, lol.

On pelican it states these springs are for used with the 8mm Ti retainers .... here is the link

http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/smart/more_info.cgi?pn=993-105-911-TI-M336&catalog_description=Valve%20Spring%20Retainer %20Set%2C%20High%20Performance%20Titanium%20%288mm %20valve%20stem%29%281%20set%20per%20car%29%20NOTE %3A%20for%20use%20with%20high%20performance%20valv e%20spring%20set%20901%20105%20901%2050%20HP.%2824 %20per%20car%2C%20sold%20individually%29%2C%20993% 20Carrera%2F4%20%20%281995-98%29%2C%20993%20Turbo%20%281996-97%29

This only muddles the water even more. Im still confused. I sent an email off to JB racing asking if there springs and seats would work with the Aasco Ti cup retainers. Waiting to hear back. Do the Aasco springs have the same 8500rpm limit as the JB racing ones?

I dropped my heads off with Bob@ Anchor today. Really nice guy ... talk for about 20min or so just to clarify what I expected and how he does the heads. Even met me to save me a longer drive. Just need to get the valves and springs delivered to him.
