From no starter to won't disengage even with key out.

So - from nothing to starter won't stop turning over even with key removed. Now what?
I tightened the negative battery post and tried the key again and it fired (fuel pump relay removed), but wouldn't stop until I removed the two wires from the solenoid. I've seen this somewhere before but can't find the post...I searched using Google but couldn't find the thread. Help please. Thanks.

Sorry for posting in both places.

I found the yellow without the blue stripe wire insulation melted near the starter spade connector. Maybe the wire is grounding out somewhere. Grrrr

How easy is it to run a new wire? Is the solid yellow the one that goes to one of the start valves?

Solid yellow is in the engine harness from the 14 prong connector. As long as it ran, it was heating the wire. I wouldn't change it.
I think, without the schematics, the yellow and blue is cold start, disconnect it.

Thank you Bruce. I'll follow your instructions tomorrow. I won't bother you tomorrow as I posted on the tech forum. I'll report what I find on Tuesday.

Happy Memorial Day to our vets and their families.

Thanks Bruce I disconnected the cold start valve wire and now the starter works as intended. Still no start but that's one gremlin down.

The CSV wire was piggy backed to the ignition starter wire with a twin spade connector as described in hi torque starter threads. If the CSV was drawing too much current, does that mean it was going to a dead ground? I'll check that connection tomorrow. Thanks.

Posted in tech forum too, under. "Help. Nothing from Starter. No noise at all." I'll keep the other one and stop using this one so as not to confuse things.

Thank you.

Bruce, I did disconnect the yellow and blue and now the starter works with the key. Thanks. Still need to get it right.
