Reuse of OE cast iron cylinders
Can OE cast iron cylinders (1970 911 T) be honed and reused if within tolerance?
Can they be bored oversize for use with larger diameter pistons? Can someone suggest an oversize, cold radial clearance with piston required, replacement brand pistons and Northern CA machine shop to do the work? I'd like to avoid buying new cylinders and assume the original cylinders could be treated like other cast iron engine blocks and treated to a small bore increase. Thanks. |

dj, for my 71 T, I'm having the cylinders bored 1 mm to 85, and using newJE pistons with a 9.5 compression ratio. The work is being done by JB Racing here in Florida. My understanding is that 85 mm is as large as you can safely go.
