Case Perimeter Hardware
So, after taking a step back from case assembly, I started to re-evaluate some of the decisions I've made. One of those was case perimeter hardware. I have probably 200 or so nice looking M8 yellow zinc class 8 nylocks, 100 or so nylocks that are supposedly Porsche oem and 200 or so class 10 prevailing torque m8s.
Not sure what to use. Will my yellow zinc off the shelf nylocks melt? Should I just go with prevailing torque all steel m8s? Will they damage the studs? |
By the time you get into the 3.2, at least the later from 86 used prevailing torque.

Thanks Bruce, I'll use the prevailing torque nuts with steel washers.

Hi Mitch1.
Not sure I understand the question, but I was told to use new perimeter nuts and washers and to consider them a one-time use. They are a few cents each and are metal only. Dmark9 P Fix It | Porsche 964 | Repair & Maintenance Videos |
@ Dmark, no I have a lot of new hardware that I started collecting a while back. Was going to use class 8, yellow zinc nylocs with oem aluminum washers, but now I'm going to use class 10, clear zinc prevailing torque (all steel) nuts with cadmium plated washers.
