Looking for Adapters: two bolt induction (TWM) to 3 bolt heads

Trying to mate a TWM ITB set up for two bolt heads to three bolt 3.6 heads. Does anyone know of a simple adapter that is commercially available?

Alternative A would be to buy the three bolt TWM parts and toss the two bolt parts, but that is looking expensive.

Alternative B would be to make my own adapters.

Any leads appreciated.

Are the adapters I think I recall seeing the reverse of what you are looking for? Allow 3 bolt manifolds to go onto 2 bolt heads? I'd think those could be themselves adapted by pulling their studs and drilling those holes larger, and inserting the holes so they can hold studs. But maybe the symmetry is wrong.

SRP/JWE have a design for 3-bolt 964/993 manifolds to go to 2-bolt heads. Not sure whether I could flip/modify these if they are even still available. My '03 catalog says $50 each...

Rothsport have a current design for the same application. Perhaps they can be modified or flipped.. I'll have to take a closer look. I have no idea how much they are.

I am sure I can fab something up or get something made on a mill or CNC mill, but I figure it cannot hurt to search for a cost-effective solution.

Borla TWM sell these manifolds as new parts, but I'd like to avoid an investment of that size.

Of course if someone has the proper TWM three bolt manifolds they don't need and are willing to let go... that could work too.

Here's what you need but I can't remember where I got them. I used them on a 4.0 I built a few years ago. Maybe the pictures will help you design what you need.

Yes, that is it Henry. Or something similar. Best would be to find some unwanted TWM 3006 3-bolt parts from someone who has converted the other way. But adapters can make sense if cost effective to buy or make.

I just found these on the self at the shop.
They are made by TWM and measure 77mm (top flange) x 52 mm top port and 47mm at the head . I believe they fit the series 3006 intake .
You can have them for $250 and I'll throw in the shipping.

Thanks Henry. I am pretty sure those are what I need. I will contact you Monday by phone if that is okay.

Tuesday, Supertec is closed on Mondays.
Cheers

With the parts Henry found, you'd have really high butterflies. If that doesn't lead to air filter to deck lid clearance issues, should be a better mousetrap? And you could even run extra injectors and stage them if your ECU is up to that.

The 3006 TWM throttle housings were designed to use these adapters and have clearance needed for air filters.

Thanks Henry, I will give you a call tomorrow. I suspect the port size of those TWM parts is way too big for my application as my intake ports are at or nearly at stock size.

I think those adapters look like ones I have seen in Bruce's book that apparently came from Autosport Engineering.

Ken911 01-14-2014 10:11 AM

Jenevy sells them if the ones Henry has wont fit. They will custom bore them also. Manifold Porsche F6 3 bolt -SF - Jenvey Dynamics

Mahler9th 01-16-2014 07:56 AM

Thanks. Those Jenvey parts are for Jenvey throttle bodies. I need something for the TWM two-bolt set up. It might be possible to make those work... but I think actual TWM parts or adapters may be a better choice.

I have contacted Autosport Engineering and they are looking into it... they have made some in the past apparently.

I am still looking for the best cost-effective solution.

Mahler9th 01-31-2014 03:23 PM

I am still looking for some suitable adapters or TWM 3006 three bolt manifolds. Meanwhile I am selling my 3.6 plastic intake with 80mm throttle body and cold air system:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/794418-custom-intake-3-6l-applications.html

Has worked well for me. Willing to sell the intake and cold air intake /airbox separately if need be.

Henry Schmidt 01-31-2014 05:08 PM

Perhaps the most cost efective way to go might be to buy my over-sized pieces and sleeve them to suit your needs.
After looking at your intake, it's obvious you are a talented fabricator so this would be a simple lathe process.
just a thought......

Mahler9th 02-03-2014 11:51 AM

Thanks Henry... I am still considering options. I do not have a lathe, but I have several friends/contacts that could probably sleeve them.
