My 2 cents; Regarding the cam towers to cylinder head seal there is no compromising or trying to save money here. I Media blast the cly. head matting surface and board sand the matching cam tower surface. to give the @$120/tube Dow Corning 730 a better surface to bite into.
DC 730 is simply the best way to go. Recommend to me by Jerry Woods.

I use 574 because I can sleep better at night knowing if it creeps into oil passages I will be ok. However I have been told by an engineer that modern sealants are more flexible, fill bigger voids, set up quicker and are better for high production repair shops and the assembly line. In my experience use three bond sparingly and never risk putting too much near oil galleries or they will clog up with silicon.
