1989 3.6 head gasket

Dear All

I have my 1989 C4 (3.6) apart and I was wondering about updating the Cylinder Head gasket. I will be selling the car soon and I do not believe I had a leak there but should I update? Engine has 50,000 miles.

The cylinders were the same through about 1992 then the factory changed the cylinders to having a CE gasket on the sealing surface to the heads.
This was the factory response to leakages along the sealing surfaces. The leakage was in about 20% of the engines of the time.
To change over you need a set of correct P/Cs and the heads have to be flycut flat for sealing surfaces. When you pull all these things off the case, you have 24 dilival studs sticking out at you that I wouldnt torque back to.
If you dont have massive oil leakages from sealing surfaces maybe youre part of the 80%..just leave things alone.
