Installation of Alternator Rear Cover
The only part I didn't take a photo of during my engine rebuild was the rear of the alternator with its cover on. There are two metal fins attached to the cover and I am not exactly sure what orientation they should be in when the cover is refitted. I think I can tell from witness marks on the plastic red cowling (911SC) but does anyone have a photo or a diagram for confirmation please?

Asking for a photo is a good idea. Either way, they should be pointed up and toward 1 o'clock. As seen if standing by the pulley. You also might have a square hole in the plastic cover... That goes at the bottom.
Pics are worth 1,000 words but maybe that helps. |

The extension will have a bottom flat where wires go through.
The 2fins point to 1and 2 cylinder. If you rotate too far clockwise the shroud gets in the way and you can't seat the fan. Bruce |

Good detail.
Does this part do any good? Or: What is the proven improvement vs. the older versions where there is no such "behind the alternator" - part and the fins were attached to the air shroud? Greets Robert |
