high idle on 911 SC 1979
Hi guys,
I have purchased a 911 SC a few months back. My mechanic trouble shoot-ed some of the engine issues (new WUR, new injector seals and new intake manifold seals), and he is telling me the car does not have any air leak anymore. However, the idle speed cannot get lower than 1200 rpm, otherwise the engine dies off. He is telling me that he believes this is due to the engine being modified with a set of "high lift cams". It is very possible the car was modified as I do not know its full history ... He is telling me that the cams should be changed in order to go back to lower idle speed. Has anyone heard of this before or should we keep looking for a faulty valve / air leak somewhere else ? thks M |
Check your timing and the advance of the distributor. If the distributor is frozen and cant advance or retard back to idle, that could be one possibility.
Youcan only run a CIS cam on CIS, if youre on carbs, you could have anything... Bruce |
