To rebuild or not? <200k miles

Hello everyone, first post here! Hopefully I can be as much aid to every as everyone is to me. Quick bio - I am 23 and was told that I could have my father's 1978 911 SC Targa the day I graduated from college. Well that day was today. I have knowledge with Japanese and America cars, but haven't had much practice with Porsche motors.

*My intentions are to build this car for the rest of my life. My vision is a RWB Porsche that is pushing around 400hp*

SKIP TO HERE: The gauge stopped working at 210,000 miles. The car's head studs all need to be replaced and a full engine rebuild is required with high performance parts to meet my goals. What would the you, the community suggest? I will be flamed for this, but I was entertaining the idea of an LSX swap but that is illegal here in CA.

Would it be smarter to rebuild this motor or to swap in a newer Porsche engine that has less miles and higher stock HP?

One -
welcome aboard
2- this place is pretty professional in the sense of flaming (unless you go dwn stairs to the last two topics LOL)
I think most of us will wince at the idea of a non traditional Porsche engine.
For a lot of reasons..kinda like crossing a Gray hound with a tiger..In their own place they are fine...but melted...sort of too muttly

I would rebuild it just like it is.

These cars are going up in price to mess with it is not worth it.

Then go buy your self a 993 like a 94-95 do a head job headers chip clutch and you'll be happy.
