Group buy on JB Racing Intermediate Shaft Straight Cut Gears

As the tittle says.. and link here:

JB Racing - Porsche Engine Components

I talked to Dennis of JB Racing. He says they are out of stock and need an order of at least 12 of these to make it worth it for them.

Anyone interested or can anyone offer up a similar solution. I want to replace my stock aluminum gears in my 3.2. I know the 964 gears would be an alternative, but those are hard to find and would almost rather buy new.

Thanks for your help and input.

Hi,

If you are building a full-race engine where you need every last little bit of output, straight-cut IS gears will help, however they are noisy (like a Roots supercharger) and not recommended for street use.

For sheer durability at a reasonable price, its hard to beat the 3.6 steel ones and thats what we use, even in 440 BHP N/A race engines.

Thanks Steve. In a round about way, someone told me i could use 997 turbo gears. Is this correct? Would you be able to share the part numbers of the pieces you buy? Thanks again.

Alfonso,
I have done a few engines with intermediate straight cut gears from JB Racing, they are absolutely the best out there, they do wine a bit, you probably wont notice it at all,the best thing about it is that the engine doesn't work as much against the axial loads imposed by the stock intermediates, on the Dyno I have seen a 5 hp improvement with it, which it is a plus., BDDT!!! Stef.

I was ready to buy the nice set of JB gears, but as I mentioned earlier, they want an order of 12 or so to make a production run.

I currently have a line on a set of straight cut gears, but the manufacturer is not known.

In parallel I was also following up on the recommendation by Steve W and a couple of other knowledgeable folks to purchase a new set of 997 Turbo gears. I searched our host's site but apparently, these are not offered through Pelican. Would someone please share the part numbers for the 997T gears? I could easily call Porsche, but you never know who you're going to get.

Thanks for everyone's input. I love this place.

Well I have found that Knight Race Inc can supply straight cut gears for $650 a set. I am going with them.

Thanks to all who took the time to give advise.

For those interested, I can send you a pic if you PM me your e-mail.

As for KnightRace, William is a professional engine builder and uses these gears in most of his projects.

Yes, great service and advise. Thanks William.
