After reading the old closed thread : Case Through O-Ring trouble??
i will just like to show what i did when i discovered the non chamfered holes in the case half. I didn't use the green Viton o rings - can't remember why ( it was back in 2006) but i found two things which i wasn't happy about. - Different chamfer size one almost all the washers - Chamfers was only made i one case half I decided to made my own washers - with 2 differentt chamfer sizes as i realized that my red O-rings was squeezed out between the case and the washer. The sizes was tested durring tightening / un-tightening a various of different washers with differentt chamfer sizes, to see when the O-ring starts to get visual damaged. i also added a small R0.5 between chamfer and the case mating surface. Finally the washers was ground on the opposite side. I used Curil-T for the head side of the bolts ( as i wouldn't dry before i got it all tightened up). Used Black Permatex silicone one the thread side, as i can't see how an compressed O-ring should be able to seal up against a threaded surface. Maybe these compounds are not the correct choice, seen from a O-ring technical point of view, as i can see many are talking about differentt kinds of O-ring grease. However, the engine still have no leaks. ![]() ![]()
