oil safety valve welded closed
What would be the purpose of welding closed the crankcase port of the oil safety valve circuit? This is a race engine built by Rothsport Racing.

In your shoes I'd email them direct and ask.

I just had one of the flappers in an SC engine, the flapper fell off as I was looking at it.
Tapped it and plugged it from the plug behind the flywheel because no other 3.0 that I had here had the flapper or anything like it. Bruce |

I guess welding is ok, usually just tap and plug it for the bypass: What motor is that case?

As Craig says (and he does this mod) one typically uses a plug, either interference fit or threaded in, to block the port, but there's nothing wrong with welding it, albeit more complicated.
