1983 SC intake backfire solution
My 1983 911 SC backfired through the intake and exploded the air box. I have purchased a new air box and will drop the engine and rebuild when the weather warms a bit here in Michigan.
I would like to eliminate the chance of the backfire recurring and found this article on Rennlist. CIS cold surging and backfiring - the final solution - Rennlist Discussion Forums I would like to hear comments on this suggestion. Thank you Michael ![]() |

Roadster,
I would suggest moving this post over to the 911 tech forum. More viewers there and a couple of real CIS gurus. If you could get "psalt" to chime in, you would be fortunate. Good luck |

Got a couple things to look at besides a pop off valve
You're running lean or the distributor is not set up correctly or working as designed. Bruce |
