how would you add power to a 3.2?
What would you do to give a 3.2 more low end power and torque?
Aside from a chip, exhaust, or lightening up the car. Change the cams? What cams should I consider? My engine only has 60k on it so not thinking about a rebuild yet. Thanks! |
I would imagine there is not much you can do to boost things on the low end of your car short of increasing displacement (new barrels and pistons) or trying some kind of turbo scheme. Maybe SSI's and a chip would give you a bump in the lower end.. plenty of threads to search, but you may lose top end as a result with a 3.2. As far as I understand it, the stock cam is about as low end torquey as it gets with your setup but I could be wrong and I look forward to being enlightened by others more knowledgeable. Why do you want more low end anyway? These engines seem best when spun up. A 964 cam would be a sensible upgrade that adds up top and doesn't seem to cost much on the lower end.

We are or my daughter is downing a 3.2 to 3.4, twin plug 10.3:1 compression upgrade. This is only 1 way to up the Powah, but gives excellent results. Chip it, test pipe and do some lightening of the car overall. Less weight equals more power per pound.

The best bang for the buck is to add a turbo.

I'm changing every moving part in the engine, save the cam chains and the cooling fan/generator! Big power and big $$$!!!

Swap out the 8:31 r&p for a 7:31.
